John Kane
John Kane spent 21 years as a career firefighter with the Syracuse (NY) Fire Department. He retired in April of 2022, rising to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief. In that role, he oversaw the Special Operations and EMS Division. He is a member of two NFPA technical committees and has also served on several IFSTA textbook validation committees. He is an advocate for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF), and an instructor for the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control. John holds a master's degree from SUNY Empire State College, A post-baccalaureate certificate in emergency management from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a bachelor's degree from the University at Albany.
